Max Cooper Pleasures feat. BRAIDS
A choir of hand claps glisten under the incandescent light trickling down onto the pulsating dance floor, which then parts to allow a sea of warmth flood the room with whirling vocals of echoing content. Trust us when we say, Max Cooper and Braids‘ collaborative effort will take your breath away.
Watch the video for “Pleasures”, the first installment in Cooper’s series of themed releases, and listen to the wonderful (and almost eight minute) track below.
Max Cooper’s Conditions EP is out now via Fields Music, buy it from Beatport.

GITNB’s Acts To Catch at CMJ 2012: Empress of
I’m kinda over the whole, we don’t want an online presence/love us for our music thing, but if that’s what helps you sleep at night, then fantastic. Fucking do it all day. Fucking love primary colors, especially on Youtube.
The problem with the next iamamiwhoami is that everything now rests on their live show at CMJ next week. For Jonna Lee, she lived up to expectations in every way shape in form. I have no idea what Empress of will bring to the table with their live show, but I’m excited to find out. To be fair, after hearing Empress of’s 11 recordings, the odds of them not being great live are so slim it pains me to even suggest such an absurdity.
Empress of sounds like Braids, a bit of Ida No from Glass Candy and Dirty Projectors made a baby, and mom was drinking and smoking something silly the whole time she was pregnant with her musical love child. Either way I’ll take it and am really looking forward to this live set which I am praying to the CMJ gawds involves some seriously wild visuals.
If you are in NYC next week, go see Empress of.
A List of EPs I Listened To A Lot in 2011
I know that title is a cop out, but I can’t say these are my only favorite EPs of 2011, because it just doesn’t work that like. My musical favorites don’t reset when the clock strikes midnight and the earth gets a year older. Nor do I get through all the music I had hoped to listen to within the confines of Western Civ’s lunar calendar. Like I’ve said a million times before, you can’t read the entire internet, nor should you.
So instead I put together a somewhat comprehensive list of mostly EPs, (maybe a few borderline albums and a couple 7”s), that I have really enjoyed over the passed several months, that were all released in 2011. I might do a list for full lengths and other goodies I missed over the weekend. Then again, I prob won’t. Hope you find a thing or two you missed this year.

Braids Glass Deer (Teen Daze Remix)
I know, I know, my Tumblr is looking more and more like a Teen Daze fan page, but I can’t get enough of the little Vancouverite. His latest remix of artists’ on the rise Braids, is yet another reason why I love him.
It’s like he has a special chillwave machine that he keeps in his closet, that can take an already great song and turn it into a shoegazey, lo-fi masterpiece, that he then wraps up with a pretty bow and gently places on your doorstep. If you miss his show at SXSW, you might as well not go at all. Don’t forget to catch Braids as well!
If you dig this track, check out my latest mix that features Braids and Teen Daze, along with a boatload of other cool new music. Download it here.
So I live in LA and drive a lot. I accidentally left the light on in my car and killed the battery. When I had my car jumped, my ipod player stopped working. I have yet to fix it.
My solution has been to pretend like it’s 1994 and burn cd’s for my car. I randomly threw this mix together, and I have to say…it’s kind of genius. Don’t believe me? Download that ish here, and see for yourself. Track list below. Holler.
