Caged Animals are one of those bands that I really dig, but somehow always forget about. Maybe it’s because certain songs sound a little Matt & Kim-esque (barf) or it’s because I listen to too much music to notice the intricacies of the bands’ aesthetic. Hoping the latter.
I’m thinkin’ playful pop punk at it’s finest. Whatever it is, I dig their last couple releases enough to be pumped for their latest 7” Teflon Heart to drop September 19th. The LP comes on limited edition pink vinyl with this lovely Star Slinger remix in tow. I’m hoping this song will help me motivate enough to work out today…

Caged Animals Girls On Medication (Teenage Desert Remix)
I’m definitely that girl…on medication, and thank god because this summer heat has been killing me. Def need something to keep me preoccupied. The new video for Caged Animal’s track remixed by Teenage Desert (Beach Fossils drummer) is a perfect distraction, and just too incredible not to obsess over. I would talk shit on the fact that they used clips from Richard Phillips short film staring Lindsay Hohan, but then again it’s Brooklyn, if Hohan’s not ironic, I don’t know what is.
The band describes their sound as “Vincent Cacchione - 808 beats, Andree Michelle’s tone matrix (thank you to Drew nor-tones), an assortment of synthesizers, novation bass station, and the va-va-va-vocals”. Love that.
If this is your first intro to Caged Animals, do not hesitate to pick up their fantastic 2010 album S/T and EP’s All My Friends and Warped Souls and pre-order their Girls On Medication remixes all available on their bandcamp.
