Glamour Lakes Falls + Roof

I know Chillwave and I broke up, but not everyone can end things cold turkey. You still have that in limbo period where you talk (and if you’re lucky), hook up off an on until you figure out how you really feel. This is one of those days.

If you’re going to give in to chilled out sex beats, it should be Glamour Lakes. With only two tracks released and a pretty elusive online presence, should be interesting to see what else the Australian electronic project has yet to release this year. This is lovely electronic bliss, that I hope is just the start of much more.

As I mentioned in previous posts, the indie music scene in the land down under is on the rise, and one to keep a close eye on. If you dig UK producers Shells and Stay+ (Christian AIDS) Glamour Lakes is in that same vein, and maybe even a little more smoothed out. Great cruisin’ tunes.

MY FAVE VIDEOS OF THE (LAST TWO) WEEKS

#2 BROTHERTIGER - Lovers

I was in San Francisco last Sunday, so missed my countdown. I’m making up for it this week with extra videos to ensure you stay in bed longer and relax as much as possible today.

Taking cues from Robert Palmer and what we now call American Apparel fashion sense, this video has so much glamwave goodness going on, that I can hardly contain myself. Not to mention Brothertiger, or Brotherliger as I like to call him, makes far out tunes that remind me a lot of Junior Boys. Halloween costume light bulb just went on.

#7 TEAMS & AYGEETEE - Peace Corps of the Mind

I was in San Francisco last Sunday, so missed my countdown. I’m making up for it this week with extra videos to ensure you stay in bed longer and relax as much as possible today.

I fucking love Sean Bowie, and this video is exactly why. My favorite seapunk makes some of the funkiest chilled out disco sex beats around, and this collab with AyGeeTee is a personal fave. This video is so great, I’ve had it on repeat all weekend. Indie needs more choreographed dancing in their world.

Yalls Dark Ray Light mp3 + Video

Peep my second favorite track (and now video) released by Yalls thus far, off of the Cultus Vibes Compilation that I wrote about extensively when it dropped a few weeks ago. It’s a great DIY label started by the chillest of all the bros, Jamison of Teen Daze.

Dan Casey, the mastermind behind Yalls has the ability to create these bubbly, funk heavy lullaby-esque, pop jamz that are just so damn catchy. They way he layers tracks is a trip and so much fun to explore listen after listen. He dropped a sweet lil’ vid to go with this track too.

Des Boda Nothing Matters

SPOTLIGHT ON: CULTUS VIBES

The Canadian based DIY label started by the original chillwave angel Jamison Baerg of Teen Daze, just dropped a year end compilation that has taken over my life (and my speakers). This compilation is one big holiday party with exclusive tracks from up and comers like Slow Magic, Yalls, Ghibli, Des Boda, Little Chords and lots more.

The mission of Cultus Vibes is to showcase the work of Teen Daze’s many talented friends, always giving away their fantastic tunes for free. It’s all about spreading the love. I am just smitten with Teen Daze and his Cultus Vibes project, so I choose to highlight the label and a few of my favorite tracks from the compilation in today’s posts.

My first love from this comp was Ghibli, but I’m also loving the track he helped produce for Vancouver’s Des Boda. It’s super reverbed and glitchy with all kinds of silly samples and a bit of a tropical vibe. Stirring the pot at the holiday party with this one. Really diggin’ it.

Help me celebrate Cultus Vibes Day downloading the compilation from CV’s bandcamp and donating to this fantastic project if you feel so inclined.

My first pick is from solo electronic artist Ghibli, which he calls “a warped Matthewdavid-inspired disco jam that exists on the Snowclone.” Like tiny bits of dance pop Heaven exploded and are pulsating through the ether.

THE VIDEOS THAT MADE MY WEEK

#4 RAMPHASTOS WATERFRONT

I could listen to shit like this all day. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, something about South Americans doing lofi electronic just does it for me. Love this video too. Getting high in Columbia sounds like a good time to me.

"Waterfront" is off Ramphastos Full Moon album out now via his Bandcamp.

#2 M+A Bam

Been diggin’ on M+A’s infectious brand of electro pop lullabies for quite some time. You can hear it in their music, their videos, even the artwork for their album is meticulously crafted with care and purpose. The more I listen to these guys, the more I want to listen. Cool vid too.

The Italian duo just dropped their record ‘things.yes’ on Monotreme Records Ltd. You can buy their vinyl and cd HERE.

THE VIDEOS THAT MADE MY WEEK

#4 SHELLS Arctic

This track is so god damn catchy. I imagine this is what a baby’s world is like. Sparkling electronic bells and xylophones with perfectly placed samples to create a warmth that is surrounded by twinkling colors and lights. I would have put this vid in my top three, but I despise found images, and the video is pretty lame.
