Reid Miami

GITNB has never been one to discriminate, and over the past year and a half I’ve fallen head over heels in love with the Irish electronic scene. Yesterday, one of Ireland’s up-and-coming star’s, SertOne asked me if I felt like the Irish electronic scene had a recognizable sound. What a great question. I responded by saying that Ireland’s electronic scene is more accessible and open in comparison to say the UK bass scene which is very down the rabbit hole. You have to be entrenched in the scene to even know about it, and well, to enjoy it. Whereas the Irish scene is much smaller and still tight knit, and because of the small number of producers, they are much more open to going outside their network when it comes to collabs, labels, even their fanbase.

When it comes to their actual sound, Reid provides a perfect example of that openness. Taking UK bass influence and blending very subtle elements of traditional Irish sounds, these producers have created a recognizable niche outlet all their own. It’s really something great.

The last time I wrote about REID I compared him to Stay+, in the way he gives heavy dripped electronic a shot of adrenaline. With “Miami” he turns up the heat (literally) even more with a hollowed out, dance inspired jam complete with a hard hitting beat and high pitched layers of twinkling bells that create this euphoric “let’s make this last forever” vibe. Really looking forward to more from this guy.

REID is busy finishing up an album and has a remix for Kitsune on the way, so hang tight.

IS TROPICAL - THE GREEKS (MOONLIGHT MATTERS REMIX)

Is Tropical The Greeks (Moonlight Matters Remix)

Wasn’t sure how I felt about Is Tropical’s The Greeks single, but this remix is something nasty. I feel like I’m at an orchestra’s disco themed afterparty. Fun stuff.

London’s Is Tropical recently signed to the uber hip french label KITSUNÉ, and are set to release their debut album Native to, on June 14th.

GUARDS I See It Coming

A singalong with GUARDS live at Daytrotter’s Barnstormer IV at Codfish Hollow Barn performing I See it Coming.

Like I posted yesterday, “We’ll never get to Heaven, cuz we ain’t gonna die…” This video says it all.

Head over to Pitchfork to stream GUARDS new track Hear You Call, that will be on the Resolution of One 7”, out Monday via Kitsune.
