Bone Quidalda Evening Prayer
Listen to the third installment of weak in the knees, Panda Bear’s take on the classic do-wop sound, singles by San Diego newcomer Bone Quidalda. His latest release is really something. Fans of Oregon Bike Trails, Nurses, and Vampire Weekend, eat your heart out. More bedroom projects should sound like this.
Whatever you do, be sure to check out my previous post on this fantastic new project, with stand out tracks “Beneath The Pier” and “Quixote,” and keep an eye on his Soundcloud for more tunes to drop soon.

Bone Quida Ida Beneath The Pier
INTRODUCING: BONE QUIDA IDA
Woah. Did I stumble onto a gem with this track or what? Fuck Oregon Bike Trails, give me more Bone Quida Ida. The San Diego bedroom project came to me by way of a mutual friend on Facebook. Usually that type of intro entails some shitty rock band that uses Reverbnation (no offense) with tiresome lyrics and generic three chord anthems that are trying way to hard to sound like MGMT. Well fuck me running, was I wrong with Dustin Illingworth’s Bone Quida Ida.
Think Toro y Moi meets Panda Bear with subtle hints of Oregon Bike Trails wishing he was Ezra Koenig. And I’ve gotta say, so much of this has me in a whirlwind fantasy thinking Grizzly Bear, Chris Taylor’s project CAN’T and Vampire Weekend actually got dirty and created this phantasmagoria of a love child. Whatever it is, kid is making it his own, and it’s incredible. Do me a favor listen to “Beneath The Pier” above, as well as “Quixote” below. Both tracks really deserve equal attention.
With influences ranging from Paul Simon afro-pop, to Ace of Base and Of Montreal, Dustin describes his songs as “[making] make me feel a certain way and unlike a lot of my other music, the lyrics are not exactly meant to be made out. It’s more about the combined feeling of the melody, the arrangement, the blurriness of it all. Hopefully it sounds like a memory.”
I love that so much. Obviously I am extremely anxious to hear what Bone Quida Ida has in store for us. You should be too.
Follow Bone Quida Ida’s Soundcloud for lots more ear pleasing treats, in addition to a free, digital-only EP he plans to release this fall.
Yeah dude! Great roundup and diggin’ the artwork. <3
As this year has gone on I’ve kept a journal of sorts that simply catalogs the music that I have really really enjoyed. It’s been much easier to just go back and reference it rathn than sitting and pondering and scratching my head thinking, “now what was my favorite music so far this year?”

I had the pleasure of throwing together this mix for amazing UK based thread company Forty Ounce Clothing. What makes the deal even sweeter is that it’s in conjunction with a collaboration t-shirt by my very own sister Steffaloo.
