Glad to see the emerging music scene in Philly finally getting some love. Moon Bounce plays Connie’s Ric Rac with Gracie on March 16th in Philly. If you are in the area definitely check out this show.
Moon Bounce - ‘Telephone’
Corey Regensburg released the Darn Your Best Frock EP in May last year, heralding the birth of his Moon Bounce project - all clever bleeps, spacey samples and broken beats.
Regensburg has since been working on LP and ‘Telephone’ is an early taster; skittish and unnerving in a rich, jittery flux staged perfectly in this home made clip - grab the song below.

*GITNB’s Acts To Watch in 2012*
Having already opened for Balam Acab in 2011, with an EP release due out on Small Plates in February, a host of high profile shows planned over the next few months, as well as a full length in the works, Andrew Balasia’s Gracie project is definitely one to watch this year.
Arches West Road + Late Last Night
Listening to Philly’s Arches is like Monopoly, it’s going to take a while, but it’s going to be a lot of fun, and you’ll definitely want to play again.
The project of Tom Julien and friends is an experiment you will want to get lost in. The track, “West Road” is a delicate introduction to this work, that slowly pulls back the covers to expose the many layers of Arches sound, while “Late Last Night,” digs in deep with an ardent dreaminess to it. With stressed vocals, wondering guitar hooks with just enough distortion to call it “psych,” Arches is one of my favorites to come out of Philly. This EP walks the fine line of lacksidasical indie pop, and experimental psychedelic shoegaze, that is just so infectious.
So what I’m saying is this, if you choose to only listen to one of the two Arches songs posted here, you will not pass GO, or collect $200. Just stop reading now and go back to Marvins Gardens, before your ass ends up in jail. This is a project you need to spend some quality time with. Passing GO with Arches is well worth the effort.

I am extremely excited to finally introduce the first single off Andrew Balasia aka Gracie’s upcoming EP TREEHOUSE. Philly’s next white Prince has been quietly slaving away all summer crafting a signature sound that he plans to introduce to the world early 2012. He’s got some surprises up his sleeve to help build the anticipation in the form of a stellar remix and a fright night of a video that will drop later this month. I stand by my original review of Gracie. Kid is going places.
Read what I said back in June below and listen to his new tune above.
Gracie’s first EP For Summer, a beautiful blend of organic and electronic, with slightly strained vocals, and funk stained beats that tickle the back of your neck with 90’s RnB nostalgia, is really just the tip of the iceberg for Andrew Balasia. So many things come together so perfectly on this EP, it almost feels like it’s wrong.
It’s music that is wise beyond it’s years and drowning in ingenuity. There is so much more to come from this effervescent young artist, that I’m already tripping over my own feet to be first in line to hear what he comes up with next. Lead me down the rabbit hole Gracie…
Though he’s got nothing but love for Absent Fever, the digital label that released his first EP, they will not be putting out Treehouse. Can’t spill the beans on what label is producing his new record just yet, but what I can say is he is in VERY good company. Watch out now.
