The first time I wrote about newcomer and solo act, Gracie I described his For Summer EP as “a beautiful blend of organic and electronic, with slightly strained vocals, and funk stained beats that tickle the back of your neck with 90’s RnB nostalgia, is really just the tip of the iceberg for Andrew Balasia. So many things come together so perfectly on this EP, it almost feels like it’s wrong.
It’s music that is wise beyond it’s years and drowning in ingenuity. There is so much more to come from this effervescent young artist, that I’m already tripping over my own feet to be first in line to hear what he comes up with next. Lead me down the rabbit hole Gracie…”And lead me down the rabbit hole he did. Gracie’s second release, Treehouse, this time on Small Plates Records, shows the progression of a young artist, emerging from the shadows and into the spotlight, showcasing his abilities as a producer, building intricate songs with so much complexity, it takes more than a few listens to understand how deep these they actually run. Harping on childhood fantasies, Treehouse takes you on an emotional deep dive that is sexy and sultry and dare I say jovial, all in an effort to draw you in and have you so caught up in the moment you forget where you are.
I wanted to note that this album is also an interesting juxtaposition between childhood nostalgia and young adult tribulations, the kind that occupy most of the hours of your day. If that was too subtle for you, I’m talking about sex. Innocence vs. corruption. You get the idea.
This will be Small Plates first 12” release, with the first 100 copies being pressed on gold vinyl, this is a special release that you’ll want to be a part of.

Gracie Southern Place Video
This is my favorite track off Gracie’s upcoming EP. Peep the vid that premiered today on Prefix below.
Prefix has premiered the beautifully dark and steamy, Feel Good Lost directed, video for Gracie’s “Southern Place”. It powers along like a steely dan chugging off in to the deep night scaring the shit out of you along its warpath. Do yourselves a solid and check it out.

”Treehouse” drops February 7th. Hurry up and get a copy on gold wax before they are history.
Gracie Tryck R Treat
*GITNB’s Acts To Watch in 2012*
Having already opened for Balam Acab in 2011, with an EP release due out on Small Plates in February, a host of high profile shows planned over the next few months, as well as a full length in the works, Andrew Balasia’s Gracie project is definitely one to watch this year.
It has been a very exciting 2012 at the Small Plates HQ. We can think of no better way to keep the party rollin’ than to bless you with the newest Gracie joint, Tryck R Treat, from the upcoming Treehouse EP. The bomb drops on February 7th but you can preorder that sucker here.
For those individuals who have been living under a rock the past couple months, you can check out the first single from the EP, Sisters, and it’s ghoulish accompanying video.

Gracie - Sisters
So stoked to share this news. Can’t wait to share more, but I can say that Andrew is tits-full of talent, and both his songwriting and live performances are bar-none.
We’re happy to welcome the latest addition to the Small Plates family: Gracie.
Gracie is Philadelphian Andrew Balasia who describes his brand of experimental electro pop as “Ne-Yo on acid”. We’ll be announcing a proper release in the coming weeks, but you can download his debut EP For Summer for free here and listen to new jam “Sisters” above.
Recent blog love:
“…it should attract utter love from as many people as it alienates.” - OneThirty BPM
“…perfectly lush and hazy summer vibes […] to further enhance your sun drenched spirits.” - No Fear Of Pop
“…don’t tell me that the quasi-tropical percussion of “In Humble” doesn’t make you feel like a bit of a jungle cat. Like…really.” - BIRP!

TV Girl Girls Like Me
This is fantastic. Really dig this band. Can’t wait to hear more.
TV Girl - Girls Like Me
We dudes behind our labor-of-love Small Plates Records have been infatuated with these talented San Diego fellas for some time now, and are stoked to be putting out this record with them. They grab that retro do-wop surf vibe with such ease and cram it all into a sandy pair of bermuda shorts while sipping on sweet gender-bending mojitos.
