Between You and Me Wyful feat. Krystal Hardwick
This is not the first time I have written about Jonathan Abramson’s new project Between You and Me. His latest jam feels like you’re watching an old Western movie, except this one takes place in the sky. You can’t help but get this feeling of floating along on this space-time continuum, with everything taking place around you in slow motion. Subtle hints of Sun Araw and Javelin’s Canyon Candy vibes marry with a jazzy, soul-tastic essence made apparent by Krystal Hardwick’s sultry, lounge singer vocals. Great work. You can be my space cowboy anytime.
Johnathan just released his debut EP Parc Montouris, on JukBoxr Records. You can snag his EP right HERE.

THE VIDEOS THAT MADE MY WEEK
#4 SUN ARAW IMPLUVIUM
One of the best things about living in LA is getting to go to lots of Sun Araw shows. Those fuckers love to play just about every week. They also love making 10 minute songs. Bitch must have been beat after this jam. Throw this shit on in the background at a party and don’t forget to dance like no one’s watching. This girl definitely didn’t.
“IMPLUVIUM” is off SUN ARAW’s Ancient Romans EP. Buy it HERE.

Teengirl Fantasy The Warm Up Mix #9 for MOMA PS1 and The Fader
The Fader has been keeping my ears frosty despite the record breaking temps all summer long. Lucky New Yorkers have been partying with The Fader courtesy of their joint production with MoMA PS1 for the annual Warm Up 2011 Series. Every Saturday for ten consecutive weeks NYC drops it like it’s hot with a smokin’ line up of coast to coast faves including SBTRKT, Four Tet, Joakim, Grimes, Clams Casino, Blood Orange, Ford & Lopatin, Laurel Halo and Gang Gang Dance.
MOMA PS1 and The Fader’s marketing team should win a fucking award for also hooking you up with exclusive weekly “Warm Up” Mixtapes made by the performing artists themselves.
This past week’s Warm Up came courtesy of Teengirl Fantasy, who let “Lil Jon toast the mix over gentle percussion and run a river sound through a steady stream of hypnotic house. JoJo seals the deal.” Teengirl Fantasy tore that shit up yesterday with the help of my personal faves Tanlines, and Sun Araw, as well as Nguzunguzu and Physical Therapy.
Stream/download the mix above while you dance around your bedroom and pretend like your hip enough to live in NYC. You know that’s what I’ve be doing…

LA Record asked Cameron Stallones of Sun Araw and Matthew David of matthewdavid to pick us out some nuclear youtubes in honor of their ecstatic-annihilation session at the Smell tonight. They’ll be playing with Dam-Funk‘s live band Mazter Blazter—one of the heaviest things in this city and most of this hemisphere—and Stones Throw’s new samples-and-scuzz dude Vex Ruffin.
It’s A Great Day To Be In LA…
