Dalton What Never Should End
New track from one of the few indie rock acts I really fell in love with this year. And I don’t mean that weren’t tons of great new acts, I just probably haven’t listened to them. Too busy listening to Dalton. Personally this track is way too reverbed. Once you hear Dalton’s first single, ‘Breaker’ you’ll realize the strained, raspy vocals of Nate Hararr are too pure to not make the focal point of his songs. Regardless, he’s on my list to watch in 2013 as I’m really looking forward to see what else he has planned for the new year.
Au.Ra Sun
I wrote this for The Line of Best Fit today. Digging these guys so hard.
Our latest infatuation, Au.Ra effortlessly strike a balance between dreamy and atmospheric guitar rattles, and just the right amount of reverb on their first single, ‘Sun.’ Australian and English duo, construct what feels like worldly guitar pop, with a lackadaisical exuberance that lifts you up and carries you away into it’s brightness. Twinkling bits of life come fluttering in to the crevices of my hardened and blackened heart, and yet fade back out just as quickly. Fleeting bliss.
Teen Mom I Wanna Go Out (Video)
Premiered this awesome video on The Line of Best Fit today.
Universal truths spill out onto the screen in Teen Mom’s video for their reverb-cushioned take on fuzzy-lipped guitar rock. Missed opportunities at looking cool materialise in the form of adrenaline pumping guitar riffs, drowned out, distorted vocals and soothing melodies, all pleading a singular demand… “I wanna go out.”
It’s a shoegazers take on beachy, garage rock at the first, best party you’ve ever been to.
Get Teen Mom’s limited edition Mean Tom 12” EP on vinyl in black or coke bottle clear, dropping Nov 27th, via Analog Edition.
Teen Mom I Wanna Go Out
Widowspeak meets Vivian Girls, but with their own set of lungs. Screams punk-infested, beachy summers in LA. I dig this so hard.
Same homie that put out my pals, Lands & Peoples fantastic Pop Guilt record earlier this year, is putting out Teen Mom’s Mean Tom album. He also runs a sweet blog called Everybody Taste. He’s like the Jiff Peanut Butter of bloggers. ‘Extremely Reliable Taste’ is what you should call your site Matt. Choosy moms choose Everybody Taste.
Sorry, that doesn’t even make sense but it’s still funny.

Indoor Voices So Smart
Really dig this single from Canadian newcomers Indoor Voices. It reminds me of that early 2000’s Vagrant-era sound that characterized, and wrote the soundtrack to a large part of my college years. Bands like The Postal Service, The New Amsterdams, Rilo Kiley, Death Cab For Cutie, The Get Up Kids, Bright Eyes and The Shins were in heavy rotation. Indoor Voices could be nestled into that bunch just perfectly. Lovely folks too. They tell me they have lots more tunes in the works, so keep tabs on these ones.

ABADABAD Will She Remember Me
Trails and Ways Mtn Tune (Video)
I really dig this band. Consistently solid and neither too dreamy or summery. Just great pop music. Plus they are from the bay area, my long, lost love. Dig this so hard.
Abadabad All The Bros Say
Long time coming. Happy to announce Abadabad’s EP will be coming your way this September. This isn’t even my favorite track on the record. Much more to come.
Their first single premiered today on The Line of Best Fist, here’s what they had to say about it,
“‘All The Bros Say’ sits firmly in the surf-rock bracket that is currently so in vogue, but the ease with which the Massachusetts outfit impart their peculiarly East-Coast-college-town brand of melancholia lifts them well above their spring reverb peers. It’s an effortlessly earwormy track, but it’s not even the best thing on their forthcoming debut EP, The Wild – a hazy, tape-sparkle record that does its best to encapsulate the concept of ‘bittersweet’ in seven short tracks.”
Abadabad’s The Wild EP drops September 11/12, 2012.

The Human Fly Tiger + Moth
After the third listen through of The Human Fly’s Everything Hurts All The Time, I was finally able to shake that overwhelming urge to say, “Woah, this guy is like a not dead version of Kurt Kobain…” adding this bone dry quality to his sound, reminiscent of bands like Modest Mouses’ Ugly Cassanova project, and more recently Bronson…that makes his words feel all too real. Like this acoustic, folk feeling that Nirvana was amazing at creating, but only allowed the world to catch glimpses of every now and then.
I don’t know what there is to be depressed about in Connecticut, the lobster isn’t sweet enough? The lakes are too calm and picturesque? Maybe the drugs are just better there, because whatever synthetic raincloud this guy induced to create a gloomy melancholic effect, you’d gladly take comfort in for more than a while, I want some.

Dalton Breaker
Raspy, strained vocals, surf-pop melodies, and shit that wasn’t supposed to post yet. Story of my life. Enjoy.
